Raymond Honeyman was born in Perth, Scotland and studied Decorative Design at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art in Dundee. Graduating in , Honeyman’s interest in painting, colour and pattern led him to pursue a career in textile design.
His first commercial work, ‘Snowdrops’, was purchased by Liberty of London, for whom he later completed several more commissions. Honeyman has also designed for Viyella and since , he has been creating textile designs for needlepoint kit specialists, Ehrman Tapestry.
The kits are composed of a selection of coloured wools and a cotton tapestry canvas which has been printed with a design-guide, allowing the needleworker to see exactly where each stitch and colour should be placed.
Each of Honeyman’s designs for Ehrman takes several weeks to complete and is composed of around individually painted stitches per square inch.
